If you yearn for home-baked cakes but haven't time to make them log onto the appropriately named www.WeMadeItOurselves.com, aka a small Dorset-based bakery called Honeybuns. In addition to conventional cakes such as Classic Lemon Cake and Iced Banana Cake, shortbread and flapjacks, proprietor Emma Goss-Custard, who's name is straight out of the pages of Roald Dahl, also offers a range of gluten-free cakes for coeliacs. My out-and-out favourite is the sinfully sweet Congo Bar, a fatally moreish combination of shortbread and toffee topped with pecans, chocolate and coconut. Ms G-C supplies to John Lewis cafes, and Harvey Nichols. Fiona Beckett |
