Emma Goss-Custard, who moved her cake-making business, Honeybuns, from Guildford,
Surrey, to Holwell, Dorset, says many areas have better distribution facilities
than in the South-East. She serves customers, including Virgin Trains, John
Lewis and House of Fraser, from a depot in Somerset.
Emma, 30, moved last January and built her distribution unit at home, saving
the £2,000 monthly rent she paid in Surrey.
“ Having a lower cost base enabled the business to grow,” she says. “We’ve
expanded from three employees to 15.”
