GLUTEN FREE TRAY BAKE
![]() |
Well-loved artisan bakery Honeybuns, based in the heart of Dorset, has launched its first gluten free savoury tray-bake created specifically for bust bees on the go! Inspires by the Italian street food called Farinata, the new Honeybuns’ BumbleO is a deliciously moreish treat, which is bursting with fresh ingredients. With a base made from chickpea and buck wheat flour and olive oil, each BumbleO is then layered with Dorset onion marmalade, Denhay West Country Farmhouse Cheddar, Stilton and roasted tomatoes before being packed in a foil tray – ready to take home, heat and eat! “We carried out a lot of market research before deciding to create a savoury tray-bake, as this is a completely new area for us, and we were astonished by how few savoury gluten free options there are. We took a great deal of time creating the recipe, as we wanted it to be as indulgent as all our sweet bakes. Everyone who has tasted BumbleO has firstly been amazed that its gluten free and secondly and more importantly has loved the texture and taste!” Explained Emma Goss-Custard, from Honeybuns. |
The new BumbleO is yeast and gluten free and contains no added salt. As with all Honeybuns’ cakes and biscuits, the BumbleO is made by hand in a wheat-free environment by a small team of bakers who are passionate about making things slowly!
“We take our time when making all our products and we believe this makes a real difference to the texture and taste of our cakes, biscuits and tray-bakes. Many of our ingredients are sourced from within a 20 mile radius of the bakery – we are passionate about local flavours. Although inspired by an Italian recipe, our BumbleO is packed with local ingredients giving it a real taste of the South West,” says Emma.
Packed in a leopard print sleeve, which is made from eco-board, the new BumbleO is available in small and large trays, which include two slices or six. The BumbleO is available in independent retailers throughout the country and also through mail order from The Local Food Company, Johnsons Dietary Provisions and Gluten Free Foods Direct.
