Our generous gold sponsors for The

The Bee Hop 2007 delighted
visitors of all ages and the atmosphere was characteristically
laid back. Despite torrential rain and thundery clouds overhead,
our loyal Bee Hoppas still knew how to have a good time from
mud sliding to dancing in the rain to "Boy Le Monti".
We raised over £2000
for our local good causes.
We were treated to fantastic performances by these
live bands and musicians, almost all of whom gave their time
and efforts for travel expenses or just for the love of it:
We are indebted to Mark Pritchard who made the
live recordings in the player above. He did an amazing job
considering the conditions: rain, wind, little time to set
up and change over between bands, and the power tripping out
several times. He also played and sang in Sylva!
The Ladybirds were furthest from the mics that
Mark used to record the ambient track, so you get a wonderful
sense of being there from all the background chatter and laughter.
Thanks again for all your hard work and time,
Mark.

We've also got some lovely, sun drenched images

pre order the sunshine every year! Please feel free to browse

How did the come
about?
Matt and Emma Goss-Custard
moved to Naish Farm in 2002 bringing their artisan gluten
free bakery, Honeybuns, with them. Says Emma, "We were looking to relocate back
to the countryside and to move Honeybuns with us. Our dream
was to find an old farm with buildings we could renovate to
accommodate the bakery". The first Bee Hop was an open
house party for all the villagers to come and meet us and have
a look around. We had a wonky stereo which had suffered a bit
in the move, so the music was a little bit ... touch and go!
The main emphasis was on the food. We served roast beef with
horse radish sauce, honey glazed hams, creamy spinach and gruyere
quiches and lots of cake. The bakery was formally opened by
the Church Warden, Mrs Edna Sibley. Everyone had a really good
time and the idea for an annual party was born. What was really
lovely about the day was that neighbours and old acquaintances
who had not seen each other for years found themselves bumping
into each other whilst finding out just what these "newcomers
from Guildford" were intending to do. Holwell has no shop,
post office or pub so it seemed as if an annual get together
helped along by tankards of real ale might be just the "pick
me up" that the village needed.
