Honeybuns Bee Shack Café comes out of hibernation this Saturday 6th March.
The cafe at Naish Farm, Holwell, is open from 11am – 4pm serving delicious gluten free snacks. On the day there will be lots of tasty samples to try including the new Cheddar, tomato and roasted red onion 'little savoury tarts'.
The Bee Shack is open the first Saturday of every month, from 11am – 4pm, March – December.
Directions and more details can be found on the Honeybuns website www.honeybuns.co.uk.
All the monies taken on the Bee shack open days are ploughed back into the 'Bee Green Fund.'
Naish Farm, the site of the Honeybuns Bakery is also run as a nature reserve, with five acres of land left as setaside areas to encourage wildlife.
A recent RSPB bird survey, indicated that there are a number of species that are of high and medium conservation concern on the farm including Bullfinch, Starling, Dunnock and Song Thrush.
The Honeybuns Green Crusaders Charlotte Drake-Smith and Graham Goodyer, have been busy bees laying the hedges on the farm before the end of the season in March.
Building works are underway to build raised beds and polytunnel, to grow vegetables and salads for team lunches and to use and sell in the Bee shack café.
When the raised beds are finished the Honeybuns team will be offered a plot each, so after working hard in the bakery they can spend an hour or two pottering in the Bee Shack garden, whilst enjoying the spectacular view over Bulbarrow hill.
They've also recently planted a hazel and willow coppice, some conservation hedging and more fruit trees around the farm, adding to the setaside areas and creating more valuable habitat for the wildlife taking refugee at their nature reserve.
