HONEYPOT CHILDREN GET HONEYBUNS' YUMMY AID

Tea time! Honeybuns bakery launched its support for the Honeypot charity with a 'cake party' at the Honeypot House deep in the New Forest - and there was a surprise visit from Honeypot's Bumble, too.

A New Forest children's charity is poised to gain national recognition after teaming up with an award-winning bakery.

Honeybuns has made the Honeypot organisation one of its chosen charities for 2010 and will feature the charity on some of its packaging.

The two 'Honeys' launched their mouth-watering partnership at the cake party held at Honeypot House in Exbury Road, Blackfield.

Emma Goss-Custard, director of the Dorset based bakery, said: "Each year we feature good causes on our cakeboards. The one we've chosen for Honeypot fits around our Almond Moon shortbread, which won 'best produce from the south west' at the 2008 Great Taste Awards and is one of our fastest selling products."

Emma began her baking business with a scrapbook of her granny's recipes and a secondhand bike.

"I spent £50 on the bike and £20 on a basket for the front," she said. "I called my delivery round Honeybuns and the name stuck."

The Honeypot organisation provides respite holidays and long-term support for vulnerable children and young carers. Spokeman Karen Betancourt-Jess said: "We're delighted to have been chosen by Honeybuns as their cakes are sold across the country and our work will be promoted to a new audience. We're also great fans of Emma's company - not least because they make the yummiest of cakes."
