SWITCHED ON TO SUCCESS

Cake manufacturer and retailer, Emma Goss-Custard, 29, was presented with a cheque for £500 and a bottle of champagne, after winning the award for outstanding business progress.

She launched her high quality gourmet cake production company, Honeybuns, in January 1999, and believes her staff are the key to her success.

Emma said that her team has helped Honeybuns win several industry awards.

Her clientele includes Harvey Nichols, the Tate Modern and Waitrose.

Emma said "Shell LiveWire was a tremendous help in providing information and advice as to how I could get started and have continued to provided help as I developed the business. I would recommend anyone thinking of starting up a business to get in touch.

Emma hopes to expand into a new unit with a special coeliac kitchen. It will allow 100% gluten-free products to be produced, and hopes to become recognised as the leading quality cake producer in the UK.
