WEST DORSET MARATHON RAISES £1000 FOR JULIA'S HOUSE

THE team at Honeybuns Bakery coordinated a 26 mile marathon in West Dorset to raise funds for the Julia’s House project to care for children suffering with life-limiting illnesses. The marathon participants raised over £1000 for the charity with the help of friends, family and customers who sponsored the event.

The idea was masterminded by Emma and Matt Goss-Custard, the founders of Honeybuns Bakery in Holwell, near Sherborne, which makes a wide range of award-winning gluten-free cakes.

Emma said “We wanted to help support a local charity and chose Julia’s House because of the vital service it offers. It’s a very worthwhile cause and makes a real difference to families in Dorset.”

The full 26 mile run from Barnes Cross in Holwell to Bowleaze Cove near Weymouth was achieved by Emma Goss-Custard, Julie Stokes, Sally Woolmer and Kim Creswell. Meanwhile, Sylvia Benjamin, Diana Foot and Louise Dutton completed the half marathon, with moral support along the way from several cyclists and a driver.

Ann Scovell, development manager for Julia’s House said: “We are so appreciative to all the marathon participants for their kindness and for all their hard work. Every penny makes a difference and helps to improve the quality of life for these children.”
