The Buzz word on everyone’s lips last weekend was the fourth annual Bee Hop hosted by Honeybuns at Holwell.

It lived up to description as “a quirkily gorgeous festival” full of green ethos, fun and family entertainment.

Naish Farm claims to have achieved the ultimate in recycling, keeping their carbon count to zero and this was reflected in the multi-binned recycling points around the site.

The Sherborne farmers were keen to answer questions and direct people to the more distant attractions and this year there was an art trail of sculptures provided by Kim Creswell, John Ellis and Africa Indoors.

Stallholders included Broke Wood Farm, Dorset Farms, Dorset Blue Soup Company and of course Honeybuns.

Country crafts included sparmaking by Graeme Coombs of King Stag, thatching by Marcus Smith of Sherborne and locally based Jill and Pete Snelson with green woodwork and dry stonewalling.

Local bands took to the stage in soaring temperatures kicking off with Holwell band Buzz in the music tent.

Ladybirds Jazz band was followed by The Afro Turks, a community drum group playing West African Bass rhythms and Dorset band Boy Le Monti to mention but a few.

Bagpiper John Goss-Custard piped around the site promoting the grand draw and the evening slot was taken by Oxford based trio Urban Idyle.

All of the bands waived their normal fees and profit from the event will again benefit the local church and community.
