THE BEE HOP

The Bee Hop 2007 was kindly supported by our 4 gold sponsors -

Moormead Leisure - www.moormeadleisure.co.uk
Sprinter Couriers - www.sprintercouriers.co.uk
South West Packaging - www.southwestpkg.co.uk
Postive PR - www.positivepr.co.uk

The Bee Hop 2007 delighted visitors of all ages and the atmosphere was characteristically laid back. Despite torrential rain and thundery clouds overhead, our loyal Bee Hoppas still knew how to have a good time from mud sliding to dancing in the rain to "Boy Le Monti".

We raised over £2000 (see details) for our local good causes at The Bee Hop 2007.

Please see our gallery of photos from this year's festival. Images were kindly supplied by Sara Hulett of Stable Design and Rob and Moira Harker. Click here to go to images.

We've also got some lovely, sun drenched images from the vintage 2006 Bee Hop. If only we could pre order the sunshine every year! Please feel free to browse the 2006 gallery of images.

We heard awesome sets by Buzz, The Ladybirds, Shiko, Big Chris, Steve Oxford & Boy Le Monti.

HOW DID THE BEE HOP COME ABOUT?

Matt and Emma Goss-Custard moved to Naish Farm in 2002 bringing their artisan gluten free bakery, Honeybuns, with them. Says Emma, "We were looking to relocate back to the countryside and to move Honeybuns with us. Our dream was to find an old farm with buildings we could renovate to accommodate the bakery". The first Bee Hop was an open house party for all the villagers to come and meet us and have a look around. We had a wonky stereo which had suffered a bit in the move, so the music was a little bit ... touch and go! The main emphasis was on the food. We served roast beef with horse radish sauce, honey glazed hams, creamy spinach and gruyere quiches and lots of cake. The bakery was formally opened by the Church Warden, Mrs Edna Sibley. Everyone had a really good time and the idea for an annual party was born. What was really lovely about the day was that neighbours and old acquaintances who had not seen each other for years found themselves bumping into each other whilst munching on their beef sandwiches. Holwell has no shop, post office or pub so it seemed as if an annual get together helped along by tankards of real ale might be just the "pick me up" that the village needed.

THE BEE HOP LATEST

It is with sadness that we have decided, after five happy Bee Hops, to hang up our Bee Hoppa hats. We're delighted to be finishing on a high. Despite the extremely challenging weather conditions of 2007, we still attracted 1000 visitors and we feel that the festival has now fulfilled its potential. The Bee hop site is relatively tiny and it was full to bursting point this year with stall holders, band members and campers. All Good things must come to an end.
