AMONDI WINS 3 STAR GOLD GREAT
TASTE AWARD
We're looking forward to putting our collective feet
up for a bit once the Christmas orders have been met.
We feel that we have been extra specially Busy Bees
this year. One of 2007’s highlights
was being awarded a much coveted 3 Gold star award for our luscious
Amondi cookies. |
| Our cookies are inspired
by Italian Amaretti - the difference being that we go for a
really gooey texture in the centre, achieved by our slow baking
methods and by making the cookies quite thick. The result is
a crisp, crackled outer shell and a lush - dush chewy centre.
We get extra chew by popping in some organic orange zest strips
- Winning our triple gold star award was a lovely nod of recognition
from the fine food world. Our team richly deserve praise for
their never ending quest to improve on our products. We all
get slightly Anorakey about things like "which way should
the cracks go on the amondi cookies- up/down, left to right
or a cheeky little mixture of the two? If you are a retailer
and would like to try the amondi, please just give us a call
and we'll arrange some samples for you. |
| RUDOLFS REWARD FEATURING
JOANEY OUR GORGEOUS DONKEY
Our Rudolfs Rewards are wickedly decadent. They look deceptively
like childrens' rice crispy cakes - they are in fact strictly grown
up territory. We melt Belgian milk chocolate, golden syrup, butter
together and then stir in the rice crispies before setting it solid.
They were only intended to stay for one Christmas season but we had
a near mutiny amongst customers when we suggested their summer retirement.
This year, just for fun, we've popped our beautiful Joaney the donkey
stickers on the Rudolfs. Mince pies aren't quite our thing
but we wanted to be at least a little bit festive.

BIG
Questionnaire
Honeybuns’ desire to make you happy
|
Please,
please do take a look at our Big Questionnaire on www.honeybuns.co.uk/feedback
We'd love to hear any comments good or bad and we'll pop all the
replies we get into a grand prize draw for a luscious Honeybuns hamper.
We truly appreciate how busy everyone is and you do not need to fill
all sections in, just whatever you have time for would be great and
you can still be entered for the prize hamper draw. |
TASTING
ROAD SHOW
On the subject of samples, our lovely
Rosie and Trish have just got back from Dublin where they
were doing a tasting for BBs Coffee and Muffin stores. Says
Yvonne at BBs:
"Honeybuns have a lovely 'manner' in the way they do business which is rare
these days. Long may the success of Honeybuns continue!!"
Well done Trish and Rosie - we are in the business of making people
feel nice- and you both do this so very well. If you are a retailer
and are interested in having an instore tasting, then please
just give us a call. We can get to the South West and London. If
you're based elsewhere we can happily send you enough "nibble" trays
and point of sale for you to do your own sampling.
| |
|
After listening to our precious customer
feedback many of you find our regular 75 - 85 grm bars just
a little bit too much of a good thing. We thought about
this and decided to launch a little, bijou package of our
plain vanilla flapjack for Springtime 2008.
|
| There
is still quite a bit of research to be done on packaging and
case sizes - but if you'd like a sneak preview pls just call
up for a sample and we'll be happy to send one over. They'll
be just a couple of nibbles big and the larger pack will still
hit the spot after your weekend ramble, housework sesh, retail
therapy spree or like us - chasing our pesky goats in order
to trim their toe nails! |

ANIMAL
MAGIC
We've been utterly enchanted
by the suprise arrival of two beautiful white doves at
Naish Farm. They've decided to make their home in our large
barn round the back of the bakery and they've been merrily
multiplying ever since. They are truly beautiful and we
were intrigued as to where they came from. We asked if
anyone had mislaid any doves in our Honeybuns article in
the parish magazine. Betty contacted us to say they might
be hers but she is more than happy to share them. Apparently
they pop round to hers for a spot of breakfast! |
www.honeybuns.co.uk/blog
To find out what's been going on with the rescue animals, the bakery
and new recipe trials please pop onto Em's blog. There are
regular up dates and there's an eclectic mixture of subject
matters. |
 |
We also
now have an online discussion group www.honeybuns.co.uk/group
It would be lovely to hear from you via this discussion group
or if you'd just rather call or e-mail us your feedback is really
important to us. |
 |
We've been
busy extending the amount of recycling activity here at the
bakery. Now all of our cardboard, paper, film, plastics and
glass are collected to be recycled. Our rainwater harvesting toilets
will be completed ready for after Christmas which is another
step in the right direction. There's so much we need to improve
on but we're definitely getting there.
|
| We
have planted 4 more oak trees in the front field to develop
the fine pair of "eco lungs" surrounding the
bakery and old farm buildings. We've also not cut any
of the hedges this year to encourage the growth of blackberries,
hips and haws for the birds to feed on. |
|
|
|
We're also in the middle of creating
a wild life bank in the back field which we're planting up
with wild meadow seeds. This strip will be left alone to encourage
voles and in turn, owls to use Naish Farm as their sanctuary.
Taking a tip from the reknown sticky wicket wildlife garden, www.stickywicketgarden.co.uk we
are also installing willow crafted bird feeders which look a bit
like walnut whips but bigger. They are ideal for tits to use and
help to keep marauding squirrels at bay. |
Honeybuns running team are
limbering up for the Great South Run in aid of Myleoma UK.
The Honeybuns team this time is: Mal, Rak (honorary Honeybuns
members) and Matt and Em. It’s 10 miles and promises
to be really good fun. We’re keen to raise as much
money as possible for Myleoma UK and if you are able to help
and would like to make a donation, please visit www.justgiving.com/yccc
We did the run and reached our
target of £1500, thanks very much to everyone who
sponsored us! |

FESTIVE DORSET
Honeybuns invites you to a sumptuous
sensual feast on Saturday 3rd
November 11 am-5pm. We're taking part in a new Dorset
wide intiative called Festive
Dorset. The aim is to marry up local artists and craftspeople
with exisiting foodie venues including farmshops, delis and
our very own Bee Shack cafe. Customers to the foodie outlets
can then puruse and buy any of the artworks on display whilst
stocking up on their foodie provisions and Christmas gifts.
It's a great way to encourage people to shop for Christmas
in a more local way but bringing artisan producers together.
It also overcomes
“gallery phobia".
Art can often be seen as scarily elitist but if presented in a
cosy little cafe where the artist is able to chat one to one-what's
not to love about beautiful works of art and scrummy cake? |
We
are therefore delighted to present Rosie Emerson
as our Festive Dorset artist.
Rosie creates large scale contemporary works which combine collage
and paint. They are truly beautiful and highly innovative. Rosie
will be in the Bee Shack with Emma, one of Honeybuns owners to
chat to visitors about the art and cakes on sale- we'll also be
welcoming visitors with complimentary mulled wine and canapes.
For more details about the day,
please call 01963 23597. |

| NEW CAKEBOARDS |
 |
We've gently revamped our quirky
and much loved cakeboards. We're the first to admit that
we tend to get carried away with all of our new ideas. We
love getting creative but sometimes our branding efforts
have been a little random. We've had to concede there's only
so much information you can fit onto the wrapper of an 85
grm flapjack. Now everything is in a set place. If you want
to know how many calories you're eating - you'll know where
to look. If you do not care about that sort of thing and
are more interested in what the animals have to say- then
skip the obesity warning, eat the cake and read all the fun
bits inside. We hope you like them. Please let us know what
you think! |
