Glorious Gifts Galore new on Honeybuns' online shop

Our online shop has wobbled into life. First we had just a few cakes but you told us that we needed to pop all the Honeybuns favourites on there pronto. So all of our regular slices, minis, traybakes and cookies are now available online. We can write a personal gift message for you at no extra charge.

Plus, we also have our hessian bags and Dorset made lip butters. You can fill a Honeybuns gift tin with a lip butter and a selection of cakes and for extra Honeybuns gift magic you can add the hessian shopping bag. Gift wrapping is coming soon and so too are our limited edition handmade leather and tweed keyrings made for us by The Muddy Dog Company... watch this space!
Honeybuns on tour in Cologne
Matt and Em were at the international Foodie trade show called Anuga in October. Even as a small business, Honeybuns still needs to be dynamic and the German and French markets are now expressing a need for high quality, artisan made gluten free treats. Honeybuns now supplies two coffee chains in Germany and our German wholesaler is as mad about running as we are. We swapped running training tips at the show as well as discussing business plans.
Dorset Food Week Event - Fully Booked

We were overwhelmed by the response we have had to our evening event on 29th October. As part of the annual Dorset Food Week celebrations we held an open evening of tastings, a bakery tour (this takes seconds as our bakery is tres bijou) and a Big Foodie Quiz. The prizes are always fabulous and we also had a scary, slimy lucky dip – well, Halloween was so close this year we felt the slime was a timely addition. We're also holding a Christmas open evening on friday, 4th December with bakery demos by the gifted Charlotte. We’ll pop details on the website.

The Bee Shack - the venue for our open evening.

Our Current bun

Our current favourite bun is... Snowy Hills
This little number is devilishly difficult to make. We start by making the polenta and toasted almond shortbread base which is baked blind to crisp it up. We then add and spread a generous dollop of Dorset made lemon curd - this stuff is the proper buttery lemon curd - not a nasty, thin tasting imitation. Finally, we make an almond and lemon frangipane top layer which is added and the whole thing is re-baked. There is interesting texture and delightful flavour in every bite - assuming one does not consume it all in one go like a Scooby Snack...
We serve it as a pudding in the Bee Shack Cafe & it's wonderful warmed through and served with crème fraiche and a dollop of lemon curd on top.

STOP PRESS
Coming Soon - HONEYBUNS ALL NEW SAVOURY GLUTEN FREE TARTS.
Our Dorset cheddar, roast tomato and red onion tart is delicious eaten hot or cold - my goodness we should know judging by the volume of them we've demolished over the past few weeks. It's being piloted in John Lewis, Poole and we'll then be launching in the New Year. The little dish it comes in is made from a palm leaf, is fully biodegradable and can be used as a bird water dish until it dissolves back from whence it came. We'll be supplying more details after Christmas.

Bee Green Top Story

It's hedge laying season again and Charlotte and Graham are sharpening their willow hooks in readiness to lay the next section of hedge. The end result is a much stonger, bushier hedge which is better at keeping livestock in. The resulting criss-crossed branches of a laid hedge also offer more secure nesting sites for birds. Charlotte is also overseeing the planting of more conservation hedge mix to fill in any gaps in the old hedgerows. We use a mix of Blackthorn, Dog Rose, Maple and Quick Thorn so as to attract and sustain as many insects and birds as possible. The 5 acres around our bakery and old farm buildings are run as a nature reserve. For more news please see www.honeybuns.co.uk/blogbeegreen

TIP TOP TEAM

George - tip top team member

GEORGE is another multi tasking Honeybuns superstar. George not only cleans the production buildings and our office to an impeccable standard, he also helps with accounts, does a big share of the animal care and is a total techy genius. It's George who helped us get Twitter and Facebook sorted and who pops the mini films up everywhere. On top of this varied skillset, George is also an incredibly kind, helpful and cheerful person. We’re extremely lucky to have him here.

ANIMAL MAGIC - PUPPY PLAYTIME
Puppy Playtime
This became a familar phrase as one or other of the Honeybuns team would take a break and go and play
with the puppies. 10 in total they were huge fun and a lot of hard work. Mahussive thanks go to Charlotte and George who looked after them so incredibly well whilst Matt and Em were away at shows and the like. Happily all the pups have found super, local homes except for little Kitty who is now part of the Honeybuns pack.
