Honeybuns says it's Tea O'clock!
Raise dough for women's charity at the 'Oxfordshire Great British (Fake) Bake Off' on Saturday 24th March, raising money for Oxfam, Coppa Feel and Oxford Rape Crisis Centre. Go along on the day to enter your best bakes or just to purchase the bakes and enjoy workshops, stalls and demonstations from experts. There is also a cookbook full of brilliant baking recipes, including Holly Bell from the Great British Bake Off, cookery writer Kate Shirazi, and a Honeybuns recipe for our delicious round 'Melting Millionaire Shortbreads'.
Our very own Bee Shack cafe re-opens on March 3rd after having a spruce up over the winter. We have some new additions to the menu including our rather luscious Goats Cheese and Mushroom Little Savoury Tart, and our gluten-free Cream Tea which we think is one of the best in Dorset! We have more plans afoot outside in our pretty kitchen garden and nature reserve. Open the first Saturday of each month.
This year we are teaming up with some of our favourite companies on our Tinker Tuesday competition. Each week one of them will be adding an extra something to our prize of a gorgeous Honeybuns tin full of Triple Chocolate Tinkers!
Keep in touch with us on facebook and be the first to find out about our random giveaways, competitions and invites for tasting opportunities - we'll be looking for cookie and scone testers soon! And our new YouTube channel shows video clips of life at the bakery and around the farm, our nature reserve and some of our rescue animals. |

The A-Team
Sheila works here in our office dealing with Accounts and Logistics. She joined us in 2006 after being a full-time mum for 12 years, and she lives just down the road from us here in Holwell.
What does your job involve?
I deal with ordering ingredients to organising the despatch and invoicing of our products, and liasing with customers, suppliers and hauliers trying to keep everything running smoothly!
Tell us a bit about yourself
Originally from Derby, I moved to Dorset in 1984. My background was in personnel. Outside work, I've been a member of Yeovil Amateur Operatic Society for 26 years, am also involved in the local community as a school governor, youth club helper and in the editorial group of our community magazine.
What is your favourite cake?
Definitely Congo Bar! I love the combination of pecans and caramel.
What's the best thing about working at Honeybuns?
The people. We're all constantly busy but everyone works so well together. I really appreciate the caring atmosphere here - it's such a contrast with some of the offices I've worked in! |

The Bee's Knees
Our recent Bee's Knees competition was won by Sarah Pamment, who nominated Stanley's in Weymouth. We chose her entry because it supported independent cafes who offer coeliac customers as much choice as non-coeliacs. You can see her winning entry here.
Stanleys opened in 2001. Their relaxed atmosphere has made them very popular with locals and holiday makers alike, and their menu is bursting with organic, fairtrade and local produce. They say the best thing about being in Weymouth is being by the sea! You can find them at 39a St. Thomas Street, Weymouth DT4 8EH.
Look out for a new Bee's Knees competition later in 2012! |

Things you love.....
"I picked up one of your Brownies....I thought it was a normal brownie and was a little surprised to discover it to be a dark choc gluten free brownie with orange. I love dark choclate & orange.....great combo, but gluten free? I've always found them dry, but I was very very impressed and just had to write and say thank you!!" J.D.
"Love love love your products. I just tried your Lemon Polenta Shortbread (stocked in our local POD shop) and am ready to head back for more. It was so good that I had to show my appreciation. It's so difficult to find natural and tasty wheat-free food so now I know you exist you have a new following to add to your collection." M.D. |
