Being Green

Charlotte's been a busy bee around the farm, planting seeds in the polytunnel which will soon be transplanted into the raised beds outside, and planting marrow, pumpkin and courgette plants in the compost patch. There is also lots of elderflower growing around and about the farm, perfect for making refreshing elderflower cordial. This year we have a Team Honeybuns Sunflower Growing competition with seedlings starting life in the polytunnel, but we suspect there has been skulduggery afoot already - maybe it's time to put the Joaneycam in there!

Now we are firmly settled into our new office we are turning our attentions towards what to do with the old office. We plan to turn it into a 'Bee Involved' community room to provide the local community with a valuable resource for learning about local produce and the importance of conservation, healthy living and promoting nature and the environment. We'll also provide lots of engaging interactive activities for our younger visitors.

You can find out more at Charlotte's excellent BeeGreen blog

Come and visit the Bee Shack Cafe

Our wonderful Bee Shack Cafe is open on the first Saturday of the month from 11am to 4pm. As we are lucky enough to live in an area with ample supply of outstanding local producers, we try to use as many as possible in our menu. All our lunches are gluten free and all our gluten free cakes, cookies and tarts are available to buy. We also have a lovely children's menu. And with inspiring views across rolling buttercup filled fields towards Bulbarrow Hill, our nature reserve to explore, and the best Fairtrade cuppa this side of Sherborne, everyone will love this quirky cafe. All monies that we take are ploughed back in to our BeeGreen projects. Catch it if you can and come and visit us on our next open day on Saturday 4th June. You can also meet our new addition to the team, Freddie, more news of him below!

We have teamed up with the very excellent JamieOliver.com and are offering the chance to win a gorgeous Honeybuns Gift Bag. And of course there is the chance to win more goodies every Tuesday in our Tinker Tuesday competition, with a tin of scrumtious Triple Chocolate Tinkers up for grabs each week.

Congratulations to Vikki McIntyre who won our 'Share Your Honeybuns Moment' competition. She sent this great photo of her daughter enjoying one of our gluten free cookies at Glastonbury Festival last year. Her face says it all! She won a Honeybuns Gift Bag full of all sorts of indulgent treats.

Freddie joins us at the Farm

This is our gorgeous new rescue Shetland pony, Freddie, who's come to join us here at Naish Farm. Even though he's the new boy on the block, he is sooo friendly. He's had a check over by the vet and a bath, and now we will introduce him to our two other ponies, Molly and Bee. If you would like to meet Freddie, he will be grazing in the Bee Shack garden at the next Bee Shack day on Saturday 4th June. Also, you can see him on JoaneyCam.

We adopted him from Liz at the Somerset and Dorset Animal Rescue. They are a small organisation based near us, and Liz and her team work incredibly hard trying to find new homes for all sorts of animals in need. They are having their first music festival on 3rd September in Somerset, all in aid of animals in need, and Honeybuns will be there with tea and cake. Buzz, who played each year at our own Bee Hop festival will be playing. We hope to see lots of you there!

Things you love

"I will continue to promote your products because I think they are definitely the best Gluten Free cakes and cookies that you can buy" V.R.

"I am just writing to let you know how delicious your Milk Chocolate Brownie is. I have never tasted anything as enjoyable as this. Being gluten free I usually struggle to find anything to enjoy, although now more choice is available, but nothing to compare to your Milk Chocolate Brownie." J.K.
