NEWS FROM HONEYBUNS BAKERY
DECEMBER 2011

Snowy Hills!

Taking inspiration from the frosty countryside this month, we thought we would tell you a bit about our multi award-winning Snowy Hills cake. This is one of our top sellers and has a bit of a cult following. The delicately balanced flavours of lemon and ginger layered shortbread, with its 'biscuity' bottom gently textured with ground almonds and polenta is totally absorbing. It comes as no surprise to learn that it has twice been awarded a Gold Star Great Taste Awards by the Guild of Fine Food Retailers. Using the purest of ingredients it truly is an indulgent, more-ish cake. It also tastes gorgeous served warm with a spoonful of creme fraische on the side.

Busy Bees

Em has been busy going through final drafts of the new Honeybuns Gluten-free Baking book due to be published May 2012. The book looks beautiful with gorgeous pictures, great design and of course wonderful recipes! Added to that she has been busy developing a gluten-free scone to add too our range, ready for launch next Spring.

We are currently working on a new point of sale stand so that you will be able to display multiple layers of Honeybuns cakes without taking up too much precious counter top space. We are also producing some super-sweet bunting and cocktail flags to be included in our Honeybuns sampling packs, available to all our stockists for a small charge. Our other hard working point of sale includes lovely retro tins (new green and red design to be launched soon), blackboard clips and display boxes, which we can send to you free of charge. If you would like a pack or need further information please do contact us at thebee@honeybuns.co.uk or tel. 01963 23597.

If you are looking for gifts for your employees or clients, our new corporate gift service will certainly make a lasting impression. Do contact us to discuss your requirements.

It's Show Time!

After exhibiting at some very successful trade shows this year, we are already planning next years shows. We have found the trade shows a fantastic way to meet new customers and keep in touch with existing customers and it's always wonderful to put a face to the name on the email or voice on the end of the phone.

We have already booked our stand for next year's Food & Drink Expo at the NEC Birmingham in March, and the Lunch! show in London in September, and we are still looking at a couple of other possible contenders.

The Bee's Knees

In each newsletter we put our spotlight on a Honeybuns stockist, be it a small independent or a larger chain. This month we are featuring one of our newer stockists, pod, a healthy and nutritious fast food chain based in London. They are not only pioneering a new kind of food business but are passionate about serving seasonal food from sustainable sources. One of the largest and fastest growing healthy fast food chains, they were recently awarded the Lunch! Independent Retailer of the Year 2010 - 2011.

Our Bee's Knees competition has now ended and the winner was Sarah Pamment. She nominated Stanley's in Weymouth, a small independently owned cafe because "they were the first place that I came across Honeybuns, they have a really good range that all taste fab, but my favourite is Snowy Hills so I have to visit regularly. As a person who has to have wheat free products I say a very big THANKYOU to Stanleys and Honeybuns ". We liked Sarah's entry as it supported independent cafe's who offered coeliac customers as much choice as non-coeliacs. Sarah will receive a Honeybuns gift bag, and Stanley's will be receiving one of our super duper sampling packs and clock.

Look out for the new Bee's Knees competition in 2012!
