NEWS FROM HONEYBUNS BAKERY
OCTOBER 2011

"The Best Brownie on the Market"

Our gluten free Milk Chocolate Brownie is our best seller! Described by Lesley Waters as 'The best brownie on the market', it's an intense chocolate experience with each Milk Chocolate Brownie containing nearly 50% Belgian chocolate. The milk chocolate is balanced by blending with dark chocolate, with chunky pieces of toasted almond and chocolate in the molten mix. We add a dash of coffee and a tiny bit of sea salt to really bring the chocolateyness out. And like all our cakes, they don't contain any preservatives.

We are currently running a super duper competition on our Milk Chocolate Brownie cakeboards with 4 Honeybuns Gift Bags worth £25 each to be won. Look out for details on the inside of the packaging.

Honeybuns stands out from the crowd

In September we exhibited at Lunch!, the food-to-go show in London. It was our first time and well worth it. Vicky and Lottie manned the stand and they really enjoyed meeting so many of our current customers as well as lots of new ones. Everyone loved our vibrant and homely stand and it certainly stood out from the others.

Seeing other cake manufacturers at Lunch! really made us think about what sets us apart from our competitors. Well, apart from our amazingly gorgeous tasting cakes! We think it's down to our anorakey attention to detail and consistent high standard of quality control. All our cakes are made by hand by our small team of highly skilled bakers, not by machines, using only the best of ingredients. We aim to produce our cakes in an honest and transparent way and we pride ourselves on our excellent customer care. It's not all about the bottom line for us and we are always looking for ways to improve. Our BeeGreen initiative also sets us apart from our competitors, ensuring we leave a light a footstep on the natural environment. We are a premium artisan brand in control of what we make, and we stick to what we do best, building a sustainable business in all senses of the word. We hope you agree!

Top Cookie!

Last month we won the Taste of Dorset Harmsworth Award, the highest of accolades at these awards! Nominated by members of thel public, we were up against stiff competition and so were truly ecstatic when we won. Em was especially pleased as the judges picked up on the Honeybuns team's cheerful and friendly vibe.

BeeGreen

It's lovely seeing the Autumnal colours slowly creeping into the countryside around us. We've had a couple of hedgehogs visit our nature log pile, and the vole coppice has proved a brilliant habitat as we've seen loads of bank voles there, and hopefully this will give the owls a helping hand. Em is currently planning the replanting of an orchard in the paddock behind the Bee Shack cafe. Original plans of the farm dating back to the 1600's showed that there was an assortment of cider and cooking apple trees there, and we hope to start phase one of the replanting in the next month or so. We also would like to welcome Elton, our new cockerel, who has joined Posh and Pecks at Peckingham Palace.

With Christmas just round the corner, we are able to offer a fantastic selection of corporate gifts suitable for most budgets, including our Gift Tins and new Tea Party in a Purse Stocking Fillers. Please do contact us if you would like to discuss any specific requirements.

The Bees Knees

This month we have our spotlight on Dike & Son Ltd. in Stalbridge, just up the road from us. This independent family run grocery store is at the heart of its local community, and is committed to stocking fresh and local food with over 100 local suppliers, including Honeybuns! They give any of the larger supermarkets a run for their money in terms of choice, and their friendly and informative staff are always on hand to help. They recently won the Taste of Dorset Best Independent Food Store 2011, and the Best Independent Retailer of the Year in the Retail Industry Awards 2010!

Don't forget to let your customers know about our Bee's Knees competition! They nominate their favourite Honeybuns retailer, and we will choose the best nomination. The winning nominator will win a gorgeous Honeybuns Gift Bag worth £25, and the nominated business wins Honeybuns goodies too, including one of our super duper sampling packs and a Honeybuns clock. The competition closes on Monday 12th December.
