Christmas Cakes
Hello,
apologies for the break in my blog service. Life has been a little more hectic than usual. Our much anticipated food safety audit was this Monday & he (Simon the auditor) said it was the cleanest bakery he had ever seen & by a very long way. Charlotte & I were grinning from ear to ear & tried not to look cocky. He also said he was very impressed by our food safety systems which is such a relief. We have all worked really hard this year on training, HACCP & our own internal audits. This has inspired us to now kick on for our BRC accreditation next year.
This means that normal bakery life can now resume, well aside from the mounting excitment about our team Christmas do, which is this Saturday in Weymouth. We’re doing the full Monty: coach, bowling, meal & errr- the inevitable pub crawl.I so need to keep myself under control & to step away from the red wine on evenings like this.
Melissa & Cath will be handing out cake samples in Dorchester’s Waitrose this Thursday. They’d be delighted if you went to say hi & mentioned they were on this blog.I think they’ll be incredibly busy & will have a great time meeting & greeting customers.
We’re going to have Christmas nibbles laid on for the team this Friday in the Bee Shack as a thank you to everybody for the audit success & to get us all in the mood for Saturday. It’s a bit coals to Newcastle though-what do you? Buy Mr Kipling slices when we’re surrounded by Belgian milk chocolate Rudolf’s Rewards etc? I think we’ll go trad with mince pies & stuff.
Today is a bit of a strange one. I’m off to see a man about my wrinkles, I think frequent belly laughs & a fondness for Aussie Shiraz is catching up with me & my laughter canyons.I’ll maximise this trip away from the bakery to finish X mas pressie shopping. When I get back, I expect the office crew will leap about to prod my face & continue to rib me for being so vain for the rest of the day.
Once all the hilarity dies down I’m going to carry on with sales work & training this afternoon. I’m hoping my BRC book will arrive from Amazon too, so that I can frighten myself before X mas about what we need to do next year for accreditation.
See you soon,
Em x
