Export Course
Halloo,
Matt & I have just about gotten over our bar skirmish experience in Dublin & have dined out on the story these last couple of days. We’ve just got back from an excellent course on the art of exporting where we recounted the unlikey tale (pls see last blogule for gory detail). The venue was a stately Home hotel just outside Bath & the course attendees were WONDERFUL! We all seemed to click despite being very varied in business types, personality & backgrounds. Matt & I both learnt one heck of a lot. Namely,I need to drop my nervous habit of self deprecation when doing presentations & I am left in no doubt that I do not have a head for figures.I feel energised from being able to listen & learn from such a talented dynamic group of entrepreneurs-.the slight snag now is creating the time to implement all we have learnt.I guess we all suffer from lack of time & money & it is one of the trickier challenges for us small business outfits to overcome. One of the other great challenges was not to giggle when we sat through video interviews with various business people. One chap looked uncannily like Homer Simpson & posessed a very lively pair of eyebrows. After participating in fairly intensive workshops on stuff like break even points & market entry, the video seemed absurdly funny-..childish, but great fun.
Charlotte has done a splendid job of holding the fort in our absence. She has been working hard on getting the Bee Hop stall holders organised & the catering sorted out.
I need to thank Bee Hop sponsors by letter this week. I hope to be able to persuade a couple more local companies to help out too.The prospect of some grant money is hugely encouraging too.Again, the slight snag is lack of time to write the proposal but it is hardly a problem unique to Honeybuns.
Tomorrow brings lots of catch up work: I need to tie up loose ends following on from our Dublin trip as well as lots of account mgt & sales calls. I’m then off to Salisbury Hospital for a checkup tomorrow afternoon. Charlotte & I are then back to Londoninum on Friday to meet with a customer who we would like to chat to about our new savoury line.
It is a bit too hectic at the moment & it feels like there is just a bit too much going on for comfort at the moment really. I’m hoping we’ll get quiet times next week to think strategically & get some solid preparation work done on Japan.
hope you have a great rest of the week,
Em x
