Tokyo pre-trip jitters!

Hello,
Matt, Charlotte & I had one of our precious coffee mornings yesterday. This is when we lever ourselves out of the hub bub of the office routine & retreat to the cottage where we figure out our current business priorities. It is one of the few chances we get to think & speak undisturbed about projects we are each working on, how it is going & giving each other support/guidance. I really look forward to them. If we have missed a session I begin to feel that I’m working in isolation & can get a mild attack of mental wheelspin!
Japan was the main topic of conversation as we are going in 2 weeks time-yikes! The phrase book has barely been opened which is a tad worrying. I should really be learning conversational Japanese rather than writing my blog but never mind, I’m sure it will all work out.
I’m still reeling from the brilliance of the export course we went on last week. I’ve learnt such a lot about planning (ie the thing I sketch over wherever possible). I’ve forced myself to take time out to focus on the ‘bigger picture’. What are we hoping to get out of Tokyo & what we need to plan for the next 6 months? Well, we need to get our website smartened up & invest in some language pages for overseas clients & enquiries for a start. We also need to liase with the embassy in Japan for help on finding wholesalers/distributors & for help with distributing a press release.
We have had an exciting enquiry from a French wholesaler who would like our cakes. I need to ask my talented mother in law to translate my Franglais reply for me later today. We plan to go out to La Rochelle to meet them once we recover from our Tokyo-Foodex experience.
Animal wise: Sam & Joan had a good session of grazing outside by our office yesterday. After the incident the other day when he got stuck under the fence, I kept a close eye on our Samuel. The grass must have tasted lush because the pair of them ‘mowed’ the front field for what seemed like hours without either of them popping their heads up.
Matt & I are off on an expedition to Dorchester Hospital this morning to get blood tests done. It is an internet health MOT idea whereby you send various samples (yes, including the obvious) to this company who screen you for all sorts of ailments. We thought it was probably time we took a bit more of a proactive attitude to our health.I’m surprisingly nervy about what the resultscould/might be-..must get healthier for our half marathon challenge in August!
I’m going to pop out for a run this lunch time. I’ve been laid low by an icky cold which I’m pretty much over now & I’m craving birdsong & deer spotting. Honey will come with me. Other than that it’ll be busy busy on the phones & the computer & checking Sammy via the office window.
Wishing you all a lovely day,
Em x
