The Festival of Bryan

Ola!
Wishing everyone a lovely as possible Monday. At least the weather has cheered up a bit. Mind you Saturday was puuurrrrfect sofa, hot chocolate & DVD weather-the rain was lashing down and it was all supa snuggly inside.
Had a great time on Saturday shopping wiv da girls, Charlotte & Sara. It’s great to get out from the Naish Farm compound/ Honeybuns HQ & see new things. Got lots of inspiration at Street. Joules is particularly lovley methinks, with all their current summer branding. Our new Honeybuns palette is almost exactly the same-very retro 1950s shades of blue, green, pink, yellow & our signature creams. We’ve been using these colours for a while but we’re now focusing on not ‘going off piste’ and adding anything else random. Consolidation of our signature colours, icons & fonts is the name of the game.
Whilst at Street, I bought yet another pink wire cake stand- we have an eclectic collection of cake tins, stands, cookie cutters etc. I’m planning our stands for the SIAL show in Paris this October plus the BBC Good Food Show in November- should be really good fun.Naturally, I’ll be taking all our vintage cake related props to thee shows.Honeybuns are not known for an uber glossy corporate image. We celebrate shabby chic every step of the way!
Worky wise, we’re meeting one of or buyers in London tomorrow.I’ve got ome planning & prep to do for that today.I’m hoping too that we’ll get time to pop off to Grays antiques just off Oxford Steet. I’ve got a fixation on finding some massive old antlers for our (at last nearly there!!) renovated bedroom.
I’ll be keping my eyes open for anything interesting cake wise.Cake competiion is hotting up- ‘Mr Bunbury’ cakes has just launched. They kind of look cute- great packaging from Big Fish. If you look closely you can see Dorset Cereal influence-.Reminds me a bit too of Tim Burton’s nightmare before Christmas. In a good way.
We’re quietly confident our product is a zillion miles away in quality though.Having said that- a lot of people wil buy on packaging alone, so we’re polishing away at our packaging, brand messages & new website. Bring on the battle of the buns!
I think our whole team is really enjoying work life at the moment. We are mega busy but thanks to systems & safety guards implemented by Matt & Charlotte, there is very little stress & kerfuffle evident.Touchwood.
Ollie the 3 legged German Sepherd is surrounded by toys in his hospital wing. He had loads of visitors over the weekend & yrsterday caught up on sleep. He is off to the vet this morning but all seems to be going well.
Other things going on- major push by Matt & I to get our house finished. Limeplaster & whitewash is the name of the game plus artisan carpentry from Kit of Rhino Furniture. Hopefully Kit can spare some time for the next project we have in mind.
Next weekend Jim Bettles aka Charcoal Jim is hosting the Fabbbuuulous Festival of Bryan- reggae, ska, lots of other music. Give us a call if you need info. You can camp too!
Have a great week,

Em xx
