Dorset Coastal Walkies

Hallo,
I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend. We’ve just unlaced our walking boots having had an adventure along the Dorset coastal path from Friday to Monday. The weather was very kind & our gang of intrepid explorers included: Andrew, Chris, Em B, Matt, Em GC, Jo plus our uber athletic canines- Peggers & Benjamin.
We stayed at Downshay campsite- I’ve probably blogged this delightful hidden gem before. For a truly rural retreat of the canvas & primus stove kind- do check out www.downshayfarm.co.uk.We set up camp with our trusty Bongo van & a couple of compact tents & set off on our epic (well – sort of) walking trips. We aimed to cover around 12 miles each day & rose to the challenmge of some pretty steep coastal inclines. The views over Lulworth Castle were simply stunning. The dogs had a ridiculous amount of energy & delighted in running circles around us. Next time- beware Ben & Peg- you’ll be carrying your own rations on your dinky little back packs!
Powered partly by Honeybuns flapjacks & a lot by hearty pub fare & the odd pint of Ringwoods Fortyniner we lasted the distance. We can HIGHLY recommend the Dorset coastal path & our highlights were Lulworth,Tyneham, Durdle Door & the Weald Arms salt & pepper squid!
On our return home yesterday Chris & Matt found the energy to remove the last 1970s ceiling from our ancient cottage. We were very excited to discover ornate roof timbers perfectly preserved & supporting the old thatched lid- thanks very muchley Chris & Em B for helping us & being such fab guests. Next time we can crack open the lime plaster-
Being back at work is nice really. We’ve done our best to strike a work- cake- play balance this summer & it’s about time we got back to cakes again.
It’s also a treat to sit down & be sleeping in a proper bed again. Mmmmm- feather duvets & a bedside light- simple joys!!
We’re putting the final touches to our all new website & cakeboards- celebrating everything we love about Dorset & about life here at Honeybuns- very exciting. Our pals do our website stuff & it has been an involved process. We went to go & see the website ‘in the flesh’ on screen & it looks good enough to eat-
Everything including online ordering will be ready in September,
