New Gluten Free Savouries
Hallooo,
Matt & I are back from Aunga- a German foodie trade show. We had a lovely time getting to know Mark & Rebecca from Glebe Farm gluten free flours & cake mixes & also the delightful Monica from Karimix- Monica creates scrumptious thai & other Asian pates/sauces & spices. We hung out a lot with our ever energetic German wholesaler with whom we talked shop & also shared our latest running tales.Bashar is a keen triathelete & unlike us seemed able to resist the international culinary temptations at Anuga.
We managed to fit in a 10 mile trot down the Rhine which was counterbalanced by us eating our own bodyweight in cheeses, chocolate, wasabi nuts & all things weird & wonderful at the show.
it’s great to be home- the pups are mahusssive now & their characters have really develped. We’re keeping a little girl who we’ve decided to call Kitty-we’re through ith Honeybuns themed names- we already have Honey & Bee & we felt that bumble might just be tricksy to shorten-
She is super cute & extremely laidback-she’ll be able to help Honey keep the pack in order.I’ve been reading Caesar Milan & Dr Bruce Fogle in an attempt to stay just a teensy bit ahead of them-
Product wise- the tarts look resplendent in their all eco palm leaf little dishes- very sweet & the dishes can be reused to- we thought we might try them out as hedgehog water dishes & to pop bird food in .They’re going into John Lewis later on- 2 weeks time (ish). It’s been a high octane journey with the savouries- wehad launched the original BumbleO about 3 years ago but it proved too ‘full on ‘ for many of our customers. It’s glorious if you love blue cheese- but so many people found it a bit too much.
This new tart is a lot milder- we’ve used a smidgen of chili & worcestershire sauce to whizz up the cheddar & tomato filling- no added salt & a beaaautiful gluten free shortcrust pastry case.Delish.
Charlotte has hidden her treasured samples in the freezer to prevent us snaffling them.
We’re looking forward to expanding our online shop in time for Chistmas too- our lipbalms are fabulous- I use mine prior to going running & I’ve managed to dodge my annual blight of lip chappedness.www.honeybuns.co.uk
Best be off now- running a half marathon in Amsterdam tomorrow- Eeeek. Will need at leat a nice hot choc & a Tinkr after that.
