Honeybuns Gluten Free Cafe Open

Hallo,

Really hope everyone is dry and cosy. We’re feeling for those down the road from us on the Somerset Levels- things look really dire with all the flooding & fallen trees.

We got away relatively lightly. The team and menagerie are all safe if a little soggy around the edges.

The Bee Shack escaped unscathed and our doors will be flung wide to welcome everyone this coming Saturday, 1st December. There will be lots of free nibbles, all gluten free and vegetarian of course. Being our December opening there’ll be carol singing too. It’s magical.

Bee Shack gluten free gifts ready

I’ve heard rumours in the HBuns office that there will be lots of hand crafted gifts too- made by our very talented Honeybuns team members. All monies raised are going as usual to the BeeGreen fund. Our nature reserve is coming on beautifully thanks to the Bee Shack takings over the years. We’re on a mission to plant as many trees and hedging plants as we can before the sap starts rising again come the Spring. So come along and eat, drink, be merry and spend lots of money on utterly diving food and gifts whilst helping the nature reserve to flourish.

Our lovely Gluten free cafe

We were very fortunate to find an extremely old and massive oak hewn cider press in our local newspaper recently. They are like the proverbial hens teeth. A lot of them were destroyed in the 1960s-70s. We are currently renovating our rare beast of a press and it will be used in our aforementioned orchard/nature reserve next Autumn. Everyone will be welcome to bring apples and have them pressed with our compliments. You can also wander around the reserve and see what all the Beegreen fuss is about.

We were delighted to have been mentioned in the Jamie Oliver Baking Christmas issue. Page 51 if you fancy a peek. Our recipes are all gluten free and vegetarian and some are also vegan too.www.jamieoliver.com/magazine/

Our soon to be launched gluten free mixes are coming along nicely. New product development always takes much longer than we naively anticipate. Sustainable sources of ingredients can be tricksy and shelf life testing is time consuming plus we find it hard to stop ‘tweaking’–

We’ll let you know when they’re ready and available.Should be around late January time.

The beautiful mugs we commissioned are nearly sold out online. They make fabulous gifts. We’re hopeful that Paul at Barrington pottery can make another batch in time for Christmas. Each one is unique and they are just gorgeous to hold as well as to gaze upon.

Next blog will include some festive recipes.Wishing everyone a lovely, warm & snugglesome weekend.Speak soon, Em x
