The Bee Shack Kitchen Garden

Graham, one of our lovely bakers who also does our design & illustration, manages to find time to look after the raised bed and other veg and fruit plants in our Bee Shack kitchen garden.

Team veg patch

The raised bed is about 1′ x 10′ and is jam packed! If you have enough room grow more than one row but leave at least 3 weeks between planting times, then you’ll have a continuous supply. Don’t set your seeds too close together as they will crowd each other and produce weak plants.

Growing around the outside of our raised bed is fennel, broad beans, and garlic, and dotted around the kitchen garden we’ve got various pots with strawberries, dwarf and runner beans, as well as beds of strawberry and blackcurrant plants.

In the polytunnel we’ve got plenty of tomato plants of various types, chilli plants, a cucumber plant, an avocado plant and citrus plant, all home grown. On the other side of the polytunnel are butternut squash, gaurds, a bright yellow courgette and a ball courgette.

Chilli plants and a lychee plant grown by Jack, Graham’s son and Honeybuns team member too, also feature in our abundant kitchen garden.

We use as much of this produce as possible in the Bee Shack Cafe menu
