Volunteers needed for our Big Dig Day
We’re looking for volunteers to sign up to help us with planting on Sunday 16th November for our ‘Big Dig Day’.
We were recently successful in our application for the Woodland Trust Community Tree Pack and so have now taken delivery of our pack of approx. 420 baby trees, to be planted here in our fledging nature reserve.
The morning dig session will be from 11am to 1pm. We’ll then stop for a hearty soup and cornbread muffins lunch, and the choice of fruit crumble or warm Heathcliff puddings. We then have an afternoon dig session from 2-3.30pm, but this is optional so please don’t feel under any pressure to join us for the afternoon too!
You’ll be planting a native, wildlife friendly tree which will look established in 7-8 years.
The day will be family friendly and dog friendly (on leads please).
You will need to bring a spade, wellies, gloves, and a smile.
You get free veggie/gluten free lunch (dairy free on request), hot drinks and a tree label for you to scribe as you wish.
Toilet/Cafe facilities open and free on the day. Access to your tree(s) on each Bee Shack Cafe day and other dates to be announced in 2015.
We’ll also provide you with a ‘Big Dig Day’ certificate.
All you need to do is contact us and leave an email/phone no. if you’re interested.
We’d love to have you involved.
The 5 acres surrounding the bakery are maintained as a nature reserve and all given over to the promotion of wildlife, and all profits from the Bee Shack café get ploughed back into our BeeGreen initiative to help maintain the nature reserve.
