Coconut Love
Coconut oil has become the new buzz word of 2016 but trust me when I say there is a good reason for this.
I first discovered this product because I wanted a natural and hydrating facial cleanser to take off my makeup, yes-really. This worked so well that I started to research what else I could use my magnificent coconut oil for. It turned out coconut could be used for quite a lot of things, to add an extra flavour, a layer of depth and a healthier fat into the diet.
There are two types of coconut oil you can buy. One is unrefined, meaning that it retains its coconut flavour, and the other is refined, so it no longer tastes of coconut. That really is the only difference between them. They both have outstanding antifungal, antiviral and inflammation reducing properties and help to detox the body from any impurities in our blood stream.
Coconut oil can be used in place of the oil in stir fries, or you could use it as the fat element in baking (we love doing this), added to melted chocolate or cocoa powder to create a delicious ganache, or rolled in some oats with cinnamon and maple syrup to create the most delicious granola.
I know you’re wondering where else on your body is great to use coconut oil. Try rubbing it on the cuticles of your nails to strengthen them, use on your skin to sooth and soften, and use as a natural lip salve.
We could go on for much, much longer but there simply isn’t enough time for that, so dip your toe in the coconut pool of discovery and you’ll enjoy the benefits that come with it.
