A Honeybuns update from Emma

Hallo, Em from Honeybuns here.emma Honeybuns gluten free bakery founder

We all send our love and best wishes to you during these worrying and surreal times. Most of the Honeybuns team are furloughed as we lost a staggering 90% of our wholesale business within the first couple of days of lockdown. Most of our trade customers are either in or connected to travel, leisure and hospitality so our cakes are all dressed up with nowhere to go…..We wish all of our customers in these badly hit sectors all the very best and hope to be able to catch up with them over a cuppa in sunnier times.

We have a skeleton team here who are working diligently and cheerfully to keep our online shop customers supplied with Honeybuns gluten free and vegan cakes, gifts and cook books. Feedback has been awesome:

“I just wanted to say thank you for the great service. I placed an order for my friend as she’s had a terrible couple of weeks. She received the cakes today and it really cheered her up. She said it was beautifully packaged and can’t wait to eat them. It was lovely to hear the joy in her voice.”

“Received my order this morning, in time for a mid morning cuppa. Think I’ve died and gone to heaven. It was gorgeous. Thanks for the prompt delivery and lovely baked goodies.”

It seems that some coeliac customers are finding it tricky to find gluten free products, especially during times of bulk buying, so we feel happy and somewhat useful by supplying safe tasty treats for you to enjoy at home or to send as gifts to loved ones. Our online shop is the bright spot in our Honeybuns world at the moment so thank you so much for supporting us in this way.

We’ve also been delighted to help various organisations by donating cakes including the Edgabaston Hotel housing NHS nurses, our own village of Holwell, the Forston Clinic, St George’s Hospital London, Southend Hospital, Royal Surrey County Hospital, Yeovil Hospital and Dorchester Hospital to name but a few.

If you know of any organisations who might be appreciative of some free cake, please do let us know. We’ve got some spare stock in the freezer which we will happily donate where we can. Please email us at th****@ho*******.uk.

We’re also trying to keep cheerful and banish any lockdown blues with our videos now posted on facebook, YouTube and Instagram where I chat about stuff like easy puddings, Honeybuns gluten free cook book recipes and, coming soon, our gorgeous donkeys Cino and Tinker. It’s been a bit of a kick up the backside to be honest……as I have ducked doing things like this in the past. Necessity being the mother of invention, I’ve gotten over any residual shyness and have really started to enjoy chatting to everyone via video. So please go check them out and hopefully have a chuckle at my expense. Polished they certainly are not….

Once again, thanks so much for helping us get through this. Things which will help us are:
– liking and sharing our facebook and instagram posts
– subscribing to our e-newsletter ‘The Bee’
– Buying from (sorry don’t want to be too pushy) or recommending our online shop.

Oooooodles of  and best wishes from us all at Honeybuns
