Honeybuns artisan bakery gains SALSA accreditation

It’s been quite a year for us. In addition to celebrating 20 years of Honeybuns, we’ve been busy with the launch of two gorgeous new gluten free cakes, and 4 innovative gluten free and vegan traybakes exclusively for our trade wholesaler Bidfood. And so we were delighted to pass our SALSA accreditation earlier this month with flying colours!

What is SALSA?

SALSA (Safe and Local Supplier Approval) accreditation is only granted to food suppliers in the UK who are able to demonstrate to an auditor that they are able and committed to continually meeting the requirements of the SALSA standard. The audit at our artisan bakery was extremely rigorous, ensuring protocols and systems are in place to address SALSA standards, and that we have collected data to prove we are doing it.

This is the tenth year running Honeybuns has been accredited and in that time it has helped us improve our standards as a business. The certification not only gives assurance to all our customers of our commitment to produce our free-from cakes in a consistently safe and legal manner, but it has also been essential in securing business with some of our larger customers. Without it, they wouldn’t consider using us. Ultimately that means we'll be stocked in more businesses, which means our cakes will be more available for you to enjoy.
