A quick mix fix
In a competitive market, mixes can help caterers bring their baking up to scratch.
From artisan bread to incredible cakes, the market for baked goods in the UK is booming. Since the rise of the Great British Bake Off, everyone's at it. Home baking has increased significantly (from a value of £523m in 2009 to £1.7bn in 2014), but so too has the demand for baked goods in general. A keynote report on the industry reveals that the UK market value for biscuits and cakes increased by 1.8% in 2014. This is slower than the 3.6% growth estimated in 2013, but with a total market worth of £3.4bn, British baking is in rude health.
