Over 25 years baking gluten free goodies

Hi, I’m Emma and welcome to our artisan bakery.

Red spotty mug and brownie illustrationI started delivering homemade cakes by bicycle in 1998. Back then, it was tricky to find tasty handmade cakes, let alone anything gluten free or vegan. Honeybuns served as a little foodie haven for those seeking delicious gluten free treats. To this day our Dorset bakery remains entirely gluten free and customer delight is at the heart of everything we do.

What makes Honeybuns cakes that little bit special?

Honeybuns gluten free bakery

It seems a lifetime ago that I was balancing cakes on chairs, the back of the sofa and every available surface in my tiny student kitchen.

This humble start up spirit still burns brightly today. Visitors tell us they are pleasantly surprised by how small and artisan the Honeybuns bakery is. The warm and homely atmosphere is thanks to our wonderful team who share our desire to do business gently and sustainably.

Nature

As well as a passion for baking, we love our natural environment here in Dorset. We’ve created a lovely bird, butterfly and insect friendly nature reserve surrounding the bakery. We started our  BeeGreen logo landscape  initiative in 2009. Find out more here. Our gorgeous menagerie of rescue animals, including two resident donkeys, add to the charm of our quirky HQ.

The summer of 2024 saw us link up with Oxford University as part of their Internship Scheme. Matt and I both studied at Oxford and of course I started Honeybuns in this beautiful medieval city.

By offering an 8 week placement to Oxford undergraduates we will benefit from fresh perspectives and creative thinking. In turn, Honeybuns can provide students with an insider’s view of the workings of an artisan small business.

This is an interesting project where we focus on time and motion and production efficiency.

Each and every order is truly appreciated.

Thank you from all of us  Turquoise heart
