Product Information
How long do the cakes last once I've opened my parcel?
Your cakes will be sent with a Best Before information slip which tells you how long each of the cake varieties will last. These dates relate to cakes in their film packaging. Once the film is removed, the shelf life is reduced. Please read more about Shelf Life information.
Can I freeze my cakes?
Yes. All Honeybuns cakes can be frozen for up to 3 months, unless otherwise stated on our website. Cakes take between 2 and 4 hours to defrost at room temperature.
How many portions do I get from a traybake?
The traybakes come pre cut into 16 portions, approx. 4cm x 9cm
Are all of your cakes gluten free and are they suitable for coeliacs?
Yes, our entire range is gluten free and we have no gluten in our production areas. We send our cakes to an independent laboratory for regular gluten testing and we are also a SALSA audited manufacturer. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you need any further information.
How come some cakes may have traces of dairy yet they are vegan?
These cakes and traybakes have no added dairy in them. Our chocolate supplier states there is a possibility of traces of dairy owing to the fact they handle dairy chocolate in the same factory. As milk is an allergen we need to state this on the packaging. Having possible traces of dairy does not preclude a product from being vegan, please read the The Vegan Society guidance.
These are therefore not suitable for dairy allergy sufferers.
Are you approved by The Vegan Society?
All our vegan cakes are registered with The Vegan Society. The Vegan Society licence enables us to display their logo on our vegan products. This is a voluntary decision for individual food companies to make. We feel it will reassure vegans at a glance that they can enjoy our products. Please read more information about the The Vegan Society criteria.
Are your vegan products healthy?
We make lovely indulgent treats using no nonsense store cupboard ingredients. They also happen to be vegan, gluten free and most of them are dairy free (some may contain traces of milk). They are gorgeous vegan cakes rather than health bars.
Are any of your cakes suitable for dairy allergy sufferers?
We have a selection of dairy free cakes.
Do you do Birthday cakes?
We have our very own unique range of Celebration Cakes plus we have gorgeous handmade vegan birthday candles to celebrate in style, which can be added to your order here.
Placing An Order & Delivery
Can I send to multiple addresses and pay one postage charge?
We need to recoup the cost of post and packaging for our business to remain sustainable. We therefore charge you the cost of p&p to each address. We don’t make a profit on this.
Will my parcel arrive on time?
We aim to process and dispatch orders within 2 working days.
The majority of orders are delivered within 48 hours (excluding weekend and bank holidays) of the order being dispatched, although some consignments may take a little longer. This is a very reliable service. For orders to UK offshore and Scottish Highlands we may use Royal Mail 1st Class signed for service. You can find more delivery information here.
Please note we cannot guarantee specific delivery dates.
Can I choose a specific dispatch date?
Yes you can. Please select this option at the checkout.
What’s the difference between the dispatch date and the delivery date?
Dispatch date is the date your order leaves Honeybuns.
Delivery date is the date your order is delivered.
Why is there a charge of £6.50 per delivery?
DPD charge us £6.50 for each delivery and as a small business already operating on slim margins, we need to pass this cost on. Rest assured we do not make anything on this.
DPD do in fact charge an additional standard £1 fuel and carriage charge per consignment which we already absorb.
We have discussed the pros and cons of offering free P&P or to charge just a fraction of it, which some other food producers do. However, “free P&P” often translates into higher prices. We’d rather be up front about what the price of the product is and what the cost of the post and packing is. We all then know exactly where we are.
It’s fair to say couriers have resulted in more than just a few of our worry lines! None of them are perfect but DPD, we believe, offer the best value for the most flexible service.
As a small, artisan business part of our service to you is to personally wrap each item in eco friendly packaging and ensure each cake meets the Honeybuns standard of excellence. We even hand write a card to accompany each order.
Hopefully you will agree that we charge as fairly as we can.

We take the greatest care to pack your order accurately but occasionally we may make a mistake. Please let us know straight away and we will put this right for you.
Sustainability & Packaging
Are you plastic free?
The only plastic packaging we use is the cake wrapper film. This clear plastic film is now widely recycled and can be taken to most large UK supermarkets. Take a look at our BeeGreen page for more information.
What packaging can I recycle?
All of the cardboard paper and foil trays can be widely recycled. The polypropylene film used to wrap our cake slices and traybakes is readily recyclable. Most large UK supermarkets, led by Tescos, now accept soft plastics for recycling.
How green is Honeybuns?
Being green is one of our cornerstone values. We launched our BeeGreen initiative back in 2009 and our green achievements include creating an on site nature reserve, planting 1000’s of trees and hedging plants, and investing in on site recycling equipment. Honeybuns is powered 100% by renewable energy.
