Step by step guide to making your own Xmas tree stocking

How do I make home made Christmas stockings?

Hallo,

Our online Honeybuns Christmas shop is now open. Gorgeous gluten free cakes are a-plenty, plus we’ve rounded up some beautiful, handmade and unique gifts for you to browse too.

Honeybuns Christmas gifts online

Our cute, handmade mini Christmas stockings are crafted here in Dorset by Lawrie Court. Lawrie uses unique vintage fabrics and buttons, so each mini stocking is a true one off.

Using recycled fabrics, these gifts are also sustainable and kind to the planet.

Open your mini Honeybuns Christmas tin and you’ll find your stocking filled with a delicious gluten free and vegan hot chocolate kit, plus a moreish vegan chocolate brownie. Ideal as a (quite literal) stocking filler or why not treat yourself? Once you’ve devoured the treats your stocking can be hung on the tree or recycled.

Once you’ve nommed your cake, pop another Honeybuns brownie or mincemeat crumble slice in there and you’ve got a gorgeous, handmade little gift for someone else to enjoy. Genius!

Here’s a quick guide from Lawrie on how to make these easy Christmas mini stockings by hand:

Step 1

Draw a stocking template onto cardboard. For a stocking the right size to hold a Honeybuns chocolate brownie you will need a stocking length of 11cm minimum & a width of 6.5 cm across the top.

Step 2

Fold your chosen fabric in half –so you are cutting out two pieces at a time. Cut out your fabric by placing your cardboard template onto your fabric and drawing around it. Use this drawn line to cut around.

Step 3

Using a brightly coloured wool and needle, stitch along the perimeter of your fabric stocking, leaving the top end open. Running stitch is ideal, or try blanket stitch.

Step 4

Using approx. 8 cm in length of recycled ribbon or fabric tape – double this up to create a loop and sew one end into the top of your stocking. Leaving 4 cm of loop of ribbon protruding from the top of your stocking.

TOP TIP:

Sew a vintage button (or three) onto your stocking to make it really special.
